Fact Check: Pope Francis Did NOT Order Vatican Priests To Announce That Lucifer Was God Of The Catholic Church No Authority

Did Pope Francis order priests to announce that Lucifer is the new God of the Catholic Church? No, that's not true: The leader of the Catholic Church has no authority to announce a new God and the post promotes known misinformation and conspiracy theories linking the World Economic Forum, its found Klaus Schwab, and a so-called New World Order.

The claim appeared in a TikTok video (archived here) on October 19, 2023, with a caption translated into English from Croatian by Lead Stories that reads:

The Pope ordered his Vatican servants to declare that Lucifer is the Catholic Church's God. In that way, according to the deviant mind of Pope Francis, Lucifer is the father of Jesus Christ and the God of the Catholic church. The fact ic checked. The world has entered dark and stormy times, considers Pope Francis, who says that mankind should trust the founder of the World Economic Forum, Klaus Schwab, whose plan is to restore nature's primary position in the world order. According to Pope Francis, Klaus Schwab appeared as a figure more important than Jesus Christ in modern era, because Jesus wants to save souls, and Schwab understands that we need less souls.

This is what the post looked like on TikTok at the time of writing:

Lead Stories staff found numerous similar claims on Google when searching for the phrase "Pope Francis announced Lucifer as God" (archived here). They all refer to the prayer called the Solemn Proclamation of the Lord's Resurrection, or also known in Latin as the "Exultet", which is chanted during the Easter Vigil. The Easter Vigil in St. Peter's Basilica has always been celebrated in Latin:

Flammas eius lucifer matutinus inveniat: Ille, inquam, lucifer, qui nescit occasum: Christus Filius tuus, qui regressus ab inferis, humano generi serenus illuxit, et vivit et regnat in saecula saeculorum.

The English translation of the said verse goes:

Let the morning star find it alight, that star which never sets: Christ Thy Son, who came back from hell, and shone with brightness on mankind, and who liveth and reigneth forever and ever.

The word "Lucifer" from the original Latin text is translated to English as "morning star", which refers to Jesus Christ, and not to satan.

Misinformation relating to the WEF, Klaus Schwab, and the so-called New World Order has been previously debunked by Lead Stories here, here, here and here.
